ANDRÉ EARLE

Mr. André Earle is a practising Attorney-at-Law. He received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons.) degree from the University of the West Indies in 1987 and was called to the Bar in 1989. He is presently the Managing Partner of the law firm “Earle & Wilson”, formed in January 2012, having previously practised as a Senior Partner and Partner in Charge of Litigation at Rattray, Patterson, Rattray, Attorneys-at-Law, from 1989-2011.

He is a Certified Supreme Court Mediator; Notary Public; a member of the Jamaican Bar Association; Society of Notaries Public of Jamaica; a Council Member of the Council of Community Colleges of Jamaica; and a member of the Calabar Old Boys’ Association. He is also an Associate Tutor at the Norman Manley Law School; a mentor in the Calabar High School, University of the West Indies and Youth Opportunities Unlimited (YOU) Mentorship Programmes; as well as a Motivational Speaker and a former host of “Balancing Justice” and “Operation Justice” which aired on RJR 94FM. In his spare time, Mr. Earle enjoys listening to music and reading self-development books.

KAREN P. WILSON

PERSONAL STATEMENT

I am a highly motivated, responsible, hardworking conscientious Attorney-at-Law with over eighteen years’ experience in conveyancing and estate planning. I have proven ability to meet deadlines, increase productivity with an excellent track record of achieving results that contribute significantly to profit. Known for displaying leadership qualities, I am seeking to be included on your panel of Attorneys who currently undertake registration of mortgages for your Organization where I can bring immediate value and strengths whilst developing my current skills further.

I am the Partner responsible for all Conveyancing transactions and estate planning matters. This involves probate, letters of administration, wills, and all estate related matters. I also engage in all land transactions. This involves sales, transfers, whether for valuable consideration or not, land developments, modification of restrictive covenants, applications for registered titles, surrendering of titles, and splintering of titles.

RATTRAY PATTERSON RATTRAY, 15 Caledonia Avenue, Kingston 5

Partner – July 2000-December 2011

Head of the Conveyancing and Estate Planning Department. I was in charge of all major developments in the Firm.

This involved:

  • working with the National Housing Trust, National Housing Agency, Y.P. Seaton & Company, West Indies Home Contractors, Cancara Development Limited.
  • starting the development from scratch and completing delivery of titles in the names of the purchasers.
  • handling the registration of mortgages for Jamaica National Building Society and also Victoria Mutual Building Society.
  • handling the probates and letters of administration and was responsible for implementing systems to ensure that the Department was efficient in all its operations.
 

Managing Partner – January 2009-December 2009

As Managing Partner, I was responsible for the day to day operation of the Firm. I liaised with all members of staff to ensure that the firm was efficient in its operations.

 

Associate Attorney – January 1995 – September 2000

As the Associate Attorney in the Litigation Department, I was responsible for attending the Resident Magistrate’s Court in Kingston, Saint Andrew, Clarendon and Saint Catherine on Civil Matters. These involved debt recovery, landlord and tenants matters, family matters, and other civil wrongs. I also attended the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. These involved commercial matters, insurance claims, divorces, and other family matters. Land disputes, estate matters, modification of restrictive covenants were also handled in these Courts.

Summer Intern July 1990-August 1994

As a summer intern, I assisted the partners in legal research and preparing opinions and matters for Court. I also attended the Supreme Court Registry to check on documents filed, and to obtain dates for Court hearings. I also attended Court with the Partners, and took notes for them during the hearings.

SKILLS

I am also a trained Mediator with the Dispute Resolution Foundation. I am an excellent team leader, and a team player with good organizational skills. I am also a quick thinker, with an uncanny ability to sol problems. Despite being a team player, I am also quite proficient at working on my own. I am also adept at Microsoft Words.

I was appointed Partner and Head of the Conveyancing Department after five (5) years of Practice.

NICKEISHA YOUNG SHAND

Nickeisha holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons.) degree from the University of the West Indies which she received in 2011. She was awarded a Certificate of Legal Education from the Norman Manley Law School where she graduated as a member of the Principal’s Honour Roll in 2013. She was called to the Jamaican Bar in the same year.
Nickeisha brings diversity to the practice with her prior degree, a Bachelor of Science (Bsc. Hons.) in International Relations with a minor in Human Resource Development from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
Nickeisha’s practice areas are judicial review, disciplinary proceedings, debt collection, personal injury and landlord and tenant. She also has an interest in family law, conveyancing and probate.
She is a member of the Jamaican Bar Association and a mentor in the University of the West Indies Mentorship Programme. In her spare time, Nickeisha enjoys listening to music and reading historical fiction.
